Our second joint working paper Perspectives of a socio-spatial transformation towards sustainable mobility (in German) is ready! Here we present theoretical and conceptual foundations of our work: What understanding of transformation do we use? And to what extent can this be understood spatially? What does the perspective of a socio-spatial transformation mean in relation to our main topics?

This bridging concept combines elements of interdisciplinary research on socio-technical transformations with theoretical approaches of spatial research. The starting point is the multi-level model of socio-technical transformation. Based on our three key topics - reallocation of public spaces, potentials of new mobility services, and digital forms of work and traffic avoidance - we present a socio-spatial perspective on the transformation of mobility - and why this perspective brings new insights.
