Since July 2021, I have been working as a doctoral candidate and lecturer for the BMDV endowed professorship "Cycling in Intermodal Transport Networks" and focus on cycling in rural areas.
My research focuses on the question whether and how cycling can play a role in the provision of public services in rural areas in the future. In my doctoral thesis, I will explore how accessibility by bicycle in rural areas will be defined (in the future) in order to develop potential for usability in everyday mobility. Furthermore, I want to explore how planning and promotion of cycling in rural areas can contribute to the improvement of accessibility and thus to the provision of public services in the future.
