Social transformation processes are not only changing the way we generate energy, move around or will work in the knowledge society in the future. These transformations will significantly shape our cities and neighborhoods, our regions and landscapes and decide how we will live in the future. In the weekly seminar, we will, on the one hand, analyze these societal transformation processes and their spatial impacts and venture a spatially integrated view in terms of cultural landscape design. On the other hand, we will refer to environmental planning, understood as spatial and landscape planning, and its instruments and approaches, and how we as planners can shape these transformation processes from the perspective of regions and landscapes.
The aim of the event is to provide an overview of the different transformation processes, each of which takes place in the same spaces and is mutually dependent. We will explore the question of how an integrated perspective of planning on these diverse changes can look like and to what extent (environmental) planning approaches and instruments have an impact on these changes.
